Treatment for lichen pilaris

Also known as keratosis pilaris, it appears symmetrically around the time of puberty and only on the upper arms.It is a rounded bump with a diameter of 2 to 3 mm that matches the hair follicle and is rough.The area around the exit of the hair follicle becomes keratinized, giving the disease its name.The color is the same as the skin, brown or red.There are no symptoms such as itching or pain.It may occur over a wide area, such as on the extended side of the thigh or all over the back.It may appear on the face, where the area from the cheeks to the sideburns becomes reddish-brown.This condition is called facial follicular erythematous melanosis, and it often occurs in people in their teens and twenties.Lichen pilaris is inherited in an autosomal dominant manner.There is no difference between men and women, and if one parent has the disease, there is a higher chance that the child will inherit it.People in this family tend to be obese.Lichen pilaris appears around puberty, but disappears naturally after middle age, around 10 years old.If you are concerned about the appearance of lichen pilaris, we recommend treatment.
