According to the report, a healthy woman who received miraDry® treatment on the perineum, genitals, and perianal area due to body odor experienced severe side effects after treatment, such as persistent fever, persistent pain, and bleeding from the treatment area, and died on the sixth day due to a rapid deterioration of her general condition, which is thought to be due to Fournier's gangrene complicated by toxic shock-like syndrome (case pending). MiraDry is not effective against body odor. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has approved it as a medical device only for patients who suffer from "primary axillary hyperhidrosis," which is excessive sweating in the armpit area.
