Reading Time: <1 minuteMany patients visit our clinic hoping to remove moles and warts. Even if patients refer to them as moles or warts, doctors must make a definitive diagnosis of the mole or wart before deciding whether to remove it or not. Moles and warts are common names and are not medical terms. Also, what may look like a mole could actually be a malignant tumor, such as basal cell carcinoma or malignant melanoma. At our clinic, we diagnose several cases of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) each year.

Moles that appear on the nose of elderly people over a period of months to years, gradually enlarge, and tend to bleed are particularly important to watch out for. Treatment involves complete removal, which usually requires excision or plastic surgery. Although metastasis is unlikely, complete removal is necessary, and plastic surgery is often required for basal cell carcinoma that occurs on the nose. It is important to be careful not to get treatment at a beauty clinic without thinking it through.
