Reading Time: <1 minuteThere are some body parts that are not recommended for mole consultations. The other day, I had a mole on my shoulder removed with a carbon dioxide laser, but it turned into an ugly keloid, but will my face be okay? I was asked this question. When I examined it, it was more of a hypertrophic scar than a keloid. It was raised and slightly red. It is an area that a cosmetic surgeon would never touch, but the mole was removed with a carbon dioxide laser without any explanation, and the raised state was attributed to the patient's constitution and the shifting of responsibility (it was raised because of the patient's keloid constitution). In my diagnosis, it is not a keloid but a hypertrophic scar. The shoulder is an area where tension is always applied to the skin, so the wound heals by rising against the tension. In other words, if a mole is removed from the shoulder, it will turn into a hypertrophic scar and become raised, which will make it even more noticeable. It is not the patient's constitution or responsibility, but the doctor's lack of explanation before the operation is the excuse. The center of the chest, that is, above the sternum, is also a dangerous area where moles can rise and become hypertrophic scars if removed. Removal of this area is also strongly discouraged. Can moles be easily removed with a carbon dioxide laser without skill? For this reason, it seems that many facilities perform this treatment without sufficient consideration or explanation to patients. Moreover, it is often difficult to adjust the thermal energy when using a carbon dioxide laser, which can easily result in burn scars. Carbon dioxide laser... Although it sounds good, it is a treatment that has been used for over 30 years and is by no means cutting-edge treatment. Since it can be easily performed by doctors without skills, there are many cases where moles are irradiated carelessly, so caution is required. In particular, there are many problems with careless treatments such as all-you-can-remove, and since it is not an all-you-can-eat option, we absolutely do not recommend all-you-can-remove moles treatment, and doctors who perform treatment carefully will not perform all-you-can-remove treatments. Careful selection of medical institutions is recommended, as cheap careless treatments can result in scars that you will have to suffer from for the rest of your life.
